here are a few of the things i checked out…
Crest Fest 2012- Equally abundant in beards and beers, Crest Fest continues to be a beacon for art, hardware, gardening and community. Several sound spaces, tons of food from local vendors, local artisans and an easter-egg-hunt of an art show make this an event to hit every year.

Fresthetic’s Makossa Cookout- Summertime, love, and bbq fills the sky at the backyard of the Brooklyn Tap House, mingling with the incredible sounds of DJ Wonway Posibul and friends. Mikey Cordero greets everyone as they come in with a warm and humble smile, thanking us for the support, chatting about creative projects making headway in the carribean. Its a true honor to be among the kind creatives here.

Ladies First- Personally curated by artists James Tops and Nova at Azucarera Gallery, and featuring an international blend of female urban artists, this show was an incredible premiere for the space. While the show is scheduled to run til september, many of the artists, like Shiro and Scratch were present, gladly talking to fans and fellow painters, autographing sketchbooks and comparing markers. The stand out piece for me was 2 tapestries that shiro made, in the traditional japanese style and blend of fabrics but with contemporary paint-marker portraits of the characters she’s become known for.

Brooklyn Bridge Secret Midnight Party- A magical mixture of star children and tourists, this sophomore event has earned its stripes. Powered by the peoples mic and the accoustic stylings of the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Brooklyn, BrainSpace and Deathrow Tull, this event blew us away. The staggering number of attendees was enough to fill the final destination, superfine, to capacity and beyond.
